The new academic year at the University of Minnesota School of Social Work begins today. A few CASCW staff members (myself included) have kindergarteners going to school for the very first time over the next two weeks, so we can relate to the “first day” experiences of our new and returning IV-E child welfare MSW students.

Over the last few months, we have been talking about developing a blog solely for updates from CASCW and guest bloggers working in the field of child welfare. Occasionally we hear of exciting endeavors in the field, and have guest bloggers from various organizations blog about their work, but their posts sometimes get lost in the shuffle of our regular blog posting. We also have been getting our faculty here at the SSW interested in guest blogging about their research, often helping translate their research into practice strategies and tips.

So, we went ahead and developed a blog that will allow us to feature these updates from the field and from us. Keep checking back to read new posts from Featured@CASCW and from our other blogs: Child Welfare Policy; Field Notes; and Stability, Permanency, & Adoption.

Looking for Notes From a Cluttered Desk? We transitioned this blog to a tag within Featured@CASCW; you can find Professor Esther Wattenberg’s “Notes” here.
