Please note: This post originally stated that workers and supervisors had to be nominated by another worker or supervisor to be considered for this award. This is incorrect—any individual can nominate a worker or supervisor for this award. This includes clients, foster parents, birth parents, colleagues, etc. We apologize for this misinformation.

CASCW is now accepting nominations for the first ever Child Welfare Exemplary Service Award in Minnesota. CASCW developed the Child Welfare Exemplary Service Award last month in order to recognize Minnesota child welfare supervisors and front-line workers in public, tribal, and private child-serving agencies for exemplary service to children and families. CASCW will select the award recipient through a nomination process.

Anyone may nominate a worker or supervisor who meets the nomination criteria. Outstanding nominees will demonstrate a commitment to engaging families, engagement in strengths-based work with families, a focus on reducing disparities in the child welfare system, and utilization of research-supported practice.

Nomination Criteria

In order to be considered for this award, workers and supervisors must be nominated by any individual (another worker/supervisor, a client, a foster parent, etc.) and meet the following criteria:

  • Must be employed at a county, tribe, or private social services agency in Minnesota that provides direct services to children and families involved in child welfare, AND
  • Must currently provide direct services to children and families involved with child welfare in one or more of the following areas: intake, screening, investigations, assessments, ongoing case management, foster care, and/or permanency/adoption OR
  • In the case of a supervisor, must impact the direct services provided to children and families in one or more of the areas listed previously, AND
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in child welfare work
