On Tuesday, Sept 2nd, classes officially began at the University of Minnesota.

On that day, the 2014-15 MSW Child Welfare Hennepin County Cohort began their orientation for their field placements at the Health and Human Services building in downtown Minneapolis.

This year, we have 7 IV-E MSW students interning within Hennepin County in the following units:

  • Extended Foster Care
  • Child Protection Investigation
  • ICWA Kinship
  • Child Welfare
  • Family Assessment

We are looking forward to another great year at Hennepin!

About the MSW Child Welfare Hennepin County Cohort

Hennepin County LogoCASCW collaborates with Hennepin County Social Services to provide an opportunity for a small group of IV-E MSW students each year to experience child welfare work within Minnesota’s largest county. Students in this cohort experience additional supervision with an onsite University of Minnesota IV-E Field Coordinator and participate in bimonthly onsite and offsite county seminars which provide informal learning opportunities that connect students with a wide variety of social workers working in child protection/child welfare roles.
