This international conference on working with involuntary clients, gathering ideas from research, policy, and practice about strategies for effective practice in child welfare, corrections, social welfare and family services, health/mental health substance use/abuse and domestic violence. In addition, presentations related to legal, ethical, and cultural are issues invited. Issues related to the dynamics of working with this population will be discussed, with an emphasis on the importance of building relationships, engagement and problem solving.

The organizing committee invites you to attend our forthcoming international conference which will bring together researchers and practitioners to present strategies for working with involuntary clients in a range of practice settings. Program themes for the conference give particular attention to evidence-based effective strategies in child welfare, corrections, domestic violence, substance use/abuse, social welfare, disability and family services and health and mental health. The conference offers an opportunity for dialogue with emphasis individual paper presentations, roundtable and panel discussions that address conference themes.

You are invited to submit a conference abstract that relates to the conference themes.

The conference will take place at the Monash University Centre in Prato, in the magnificent 18th century Palazzo Vaj, located just 20 minutes from Florence, Italy. The conference reception is planned for Wednesday, May 23rd, the evening of the first day of the conference. The official conference dinner will be held on the evening of Thursday, May 24th.
