Viewers will gain a greater understanding of some of the key characteristics of maternal depression and its prevalence in society and in the child welfare system. They will also learn about assessment tools to diagnose maternal depression, the importance of cultural competence when working with depressed mothers, and some interventions and resources for depressed mothers and their children.

On June 17, 2011 a forum was held on the topic of maternal depression. Information about the forum and handouts from it are located here.
