PACC logoDue to great interest, the Permanency and Adoption Competency Certificate (PACC) program is currently accepting registration for a SECOND cohort to start this September, 2014. The first Twin Cities cohort filled quickly so register today if you’re interested!

The second site will be located in the south metro area (Chaska or surrounding area). The PACC program will focus on the knowledge and skills that mental health and child welfare professionals need to work with individuals and families involved in permanency and adoption. Completion of the PACC certificate makes graduates eligible for the PACC Professional Directory, a searchable database where families, agencies and other professionals can search for adoption-competent providers.

The certificate program includes:

  • Thirteen in-class sessions
  • Two self-directed sessions
  • 6 months (18 hours) of post-training clinical case consultation and supervision

  • Adoption History, Law and Process
  • Introduction to Adoption Competent Mental Health Practice

  • Trauma and Brain Neurobiology
  • Clinical Issues in Providing Therapeutic Services: Attachment
  • Adopted Adolescents and Identity Formation
  • Adoptive Family Formation and Birth Families
  • Working with Adoptive Parents on Managing Children’s Behaviors
  • Openness in Adoption
  • Race and Ethnicity
  • Adoptive Kinship Network
  • Integrating Knowledge, Values and Skills
