CASCW at the Capitol featuring Child welfare policy updates

The regular Minnesota legislative session ended on May 19 with several major items left unfinished. Conference committees and work groups have continued working past the Wednesday, May 21, deadline to come to agreements on revisions to omnibus bills. As of Friday morning, House leaders are optimistic that the work groups may be finished in the next few days, after which Governor Walz is expected to call a special session for the bills to be voted on by the legislature. June 30 is the deadline for budget bills to be passed to avoid a state government shutdown.

CACSW takes a deeper dive into these and other state and national legislative developments below. To stay abreast of child welfare legislation, check out our regularly updated Bill Tracker. (Note: the inclusion of bills does not indicate a position for or against a particular policy.)
