Hello fellow child welfare advocates and CASCW supporters. My name is Angela Allen and I am thrilled to be the new graduate assistant working in CASCW’s public policy department. I would like to begin by introducing myself and sharing a bit about what’s yet to come in my future blog posts throughout the legislative session.

Currently I am in my final year in graduate school completing my Masters in Social Work along with a minor in Human Rights. I have many interests in areas of study that include policy analysis, grassroots organizing, racial and economic disparities, and sexual exploitation of youth.

In addition to my work here at CASCW I am interning with an agency called Jewish Community Action analyzing key 2014 policies related to minimum wage, anti-bullying, and gun violence prevention. Over the next few months I am excited for the opportunity to explore how these issues relate to child welfare while covering additional topics such as adoption, economic assistance for families, and many more.
