Established in 1992, the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW), a research and training center located in the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota, strives to improve the well-being of children and families who are involved in the child welfare system by: educating human service professionals, fostering collaboration across systems and disciplines, informing policy makers and the public, and expanding the child welfare knowledge base.
Child Protection in Minnesota
To capture the complexity and diversity of the child welfare system in Minnesota, the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare partnered with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the Minnesota Association of County Social Service Administrators and six counties with rural, urban and suburban populations to create the Minnesota Realistic Job Preview for Child Protection.
In addition to the Realistic Job Preview, please feel free to review the Minnesota Child Welfare Framework for Competent Practice as well as our array of practice tools to support your work with families.
