This module summarizes the results of a study on the relationship between students’ child welfare system involvement, Indigenous heritage, and out-of-school suspension in Minnesota. Participants will gain background knowledge in exclusionary discipline and the inequities that persist in school discipline, followed by the methods and findings of the aforementioned study. Participants will explore their role in helping to reduce the disproportionate suspension of Indigenous children and other inequities in school discipline.
