Each year, the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare partners with School of Social Work faculty and researchers as well as centers to produce relevant training products for child welfare professionals. Training products were supported by Federal Title IV-E funds via grant #GK302 from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Children and Family Services Division.

Online consultation groups to train supervisors and front line workers in child welfare on reflective consultation supervision (RCS) and infant mental health.
The online certificate builds foundational knowledge of child development for child welfare professionals.
Workshop Using Reflection to Promote Workforce Well-being, as part of the Supervisor Roundtable attended by Minnesota child protection supervisors, held in May 2024.

Meeting Guides and Training Workshops
New Meeting Guides to support child welfare workers working with parents and caregivers. Guide topics include Strengthening Ourselves with Affirmations, Managing My Emotions, and Identifying What Matters. The meeting guides are designed to support child welfare workers in ‘meeting clients where they are’ in their motivation to change and helping them make solid progress toward reducing their challenges related to co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders.
De-escalation Through Mindfulness, interactive trainings providing skills and tools for human service professionals to calm themselves and clients in escalated situations.
